The short answer is no. Staying at home is fun. It is exciting, and it is endlessly rewarding to watch your child grow up. It is not, however, easy.
Being solely responsible for caring for a baby, and for running a household day in and day out can be frustrating, draining, and sometimes even boring. You may find that you get isolated, or even depressed, or that you start to resent your partner, who waltzes off to work in the morning, dressed to the nines, while you face mountains of dishes, saggy tracksuit pants, and baby vomit.
Then there’s society, which, instead of applauding stay-at-home parents for the stellar job they do, look down on their lack of career, and dismiss them as ‘just a stay-at-home mom’ (or dad.)
Surviving on one income also is not that easy, and if you are used to two salaries, getting by on one, even with the savings you will make by not working, can take a lot of budgeting and cutting back. You will have to sit down with your partner and make some changes to your lifestyle if you want to make it work.
