If you find it stressful ferrying the kids from the school gates to play dates or from swimming lessons to guitar practice, then don’t worry because you’re not alone.
While we may be able to take the endless bickering in the backseat or the ‘hilarious’ jokes at Mum’s expense in our stride, many of us still admit to being anxious behind the wheel, particularly at certain times of the day.
According to a recent study conducted by i2 research on behalf of Toyota Hybrid, us drivers feel most stressed at 17.30 and over half of us admit to feeling anxious at least four times a week while behind the wheel.
Eager to understand the source of this stress, Toyota Hybrid asked participants to list the various reasons they found themselves becoming riled while driving, and we have to admit, we can relate!
Other motorists, poor driving skills and the use of offensive hand signals are just some of the reasons many of us find driving more of a chore than a pleasure, but according to Toyota it doesn’t have to be this way.
Commenting on the findings, Marketing Director at Toyota Ireland, Michael Gaynor said: “What is clear from our research is that Irish people are not enjoying the experience of driving as much as they should be. While we can’t control the weather, calm rush hour traffic or silence backseat drivers, we can ensure people a smooth and relaxing drive in a Toyota hybrid.”
According to recent research, it appears that while the rest of us struggle to keep our tempers on the school run, Hybrid drivers are enjoying a much more pleasurable experience.
Findings reveal that your choice of vehicle can play an important role on your stress levels, with Mr. Gaynor explaining: “Recent research conducted for Toyota showed that hybrid drivers reported feeling less frustrated, less stressed, happier and calmer driving a hybrid. We’re encouraging people to experience the difference for themselves by taking a test drive in one of our hybrids to feel the joy of driving once again.”
If you find driving has become a source of anxiety or stress, then you may need to consider your choice of vehicle when you’re making that all-important decision in the car showroom!
