Yesterday, we shared a hilarious video that captured some of the phrases we, as parents, tend to overly rely on when it comes to dealing with our little ones. Among the many familiar scenes captured perfectly in the montage was the car struggle that so many of us experience, and it makes this latest report very easy to believe!

According to the findings of a study carried out by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, two in five Irish parents lie to their children about how long their car journeys will take.

4,500 parents from Ireland, the UK, France, Germany and Spain were surveyed as part of the study, with the findings shedding a little light on exactly why we tell those porkies when it comes to our travel plans.

With 41% of all respondents listing boredom as the number one cause of arguments on long car journeys, perhaps it’s no surprise that we tend to embellish a little!

The study did serve up some good news for us however, with Irish parents claiming the top spot for the best-behaved children during car trips. A whopping 92% of Ireland’s respondents happily described their little ones as well-behaved during their family outings.

This will really make you think about how to answer the classic ‘are we there yet?’ question in future.
