It has been a dramatic few months for her, following her marriage split and subsequent custody battle, and more recently, troubles with her 18-year-old daughter – and things haven’t improved for her this weekend.
Rosie O’Donnell has found herself back in the headlines today, after daughter Chelsea’s birth mother, Deanna Micoley, criticised her treatment of the teenager.
The presenter recently reported Chelsea missing, stating that she had a mental illness and needed to come home to take medication. Chelsea was eventually found in the home of a man whom she met on Tinder, and he was later arrested and charged for sending her inappropriate photos.
Chelsea turned 18 shortly after the very public incident, and reportedly decided to leave Rosie’s home to go and live with her biological mother, Micoley.
Now, Micoley has hit out at Rosie for suggesting that Chelsea has mental problems, telling the Mail Online that this could not be further from the truth.
“There’s nothing wrong with her. She’s out with family right now and she’s great. Everything is fine,” said the mother-of-five.
Deanna previously gave a tell-all interview in which she claimed that she was not her in right mind to consent to giving Chelsea up for adoption, and criticising Rosie for ‘taking advantage’ of her.
In the latest interview, Deanna added that Chelsea “didn’t want any more attention after everything with Rosie saying that she had a mental illness”.
“I would just shake my head at Rosie at this point. I don’t think Chelsea has a mental illness and I don’t think medication is something that she definitely needs,” she said.
