If you're one of the innumerable people who wants to have a very stern word in the ear of five now infamous grandchildren who failed to show up for their Papaw's hamburger supper, you may want to read on because all is not as it seems.

Opening up about the photo which broke hearts all around the world last week, 66-year-old Kenneth Harmon - now known to the wider world as Papaw - explained that his lack of guests had less to do with disinterest on his family's part and more to do with a breakdown in communication.

Speaking to Inside Edition about the incredibly moving post which his granddaughter Kelsey shared with the world on Twitter last Wednesday, the now famous granddad explained: "There was a failure to communicate. I thought that everyone was invited but that is not the way it turned out."

Offering solace to millions who assumed Kenneth's grandchildren had simply ignored his invite to dinner, the Oklahoma-native insisted that this simply wasn't the case, revealing: "There was some grandkids that didn’t know about it."

Heartbroken at the thought of their grandfather feeling so dejected, Papaw's grandchildren have since rallied around him in an effort to make up for the botched dinner plans - something which Papaw revealed during the same interview with the popular US news show.

We're so glad to hear it!
