Introducing your kids to monsters in movies can be a task and a half. Yes, YOU may love those spine-chilling frighting creatures, but naturally, your little one isn't anywhere near ready to process any real horror (save that for the teen years!).

And traditionally, the best, family-friendly, monster-themed movies are a hit with the kids (and mum and dad) for a reason: the family secretly loves to get a fright (the jump-off-your-couch-kind!) even from the 'scariest' of creatures; it's all a part of what makes watching great movies together so magical.

But where do you start if you're unsure of the film that has the right kind of monsters? Allow us to introduce you to The Monster Family, the new must-watch film you and your children will love for the frights, delights and the rest! Monster Family will be available to watch in cinemas around Ireland and on Sky Cinema from March 2nd.

They are monsters, yes (but not as you know them), so you won't have to worry about the kids, the only thing that'll keep them up at night is wanting to watch their adventures all over again.

The Plot: They weren't always monsters; they start out the Wishbone family, a regular family whose life takes an unexpected turn when they attend a monster party that leaves them with a lot more than they bargained for! When an evil witch turns mum Emma into a vampire, dad Frank into Frankenstein’s Monster, and kids Fay and Max into a Mummy and a werewolf, they must go on an adventure chasing the witch around the world to return them to their human selves. But when Dracula (yes, that's Count Dracula) and his mischievous bats kidnap Emma, the family are thrown apart and forced to find their inner strengths, reunite and reverse the curse that turned them into a Monster Family in the first place.

The film's award-winning cast provides the voice-over duties and many have featured in some of the most beloved films in the world including Dracula's Jason Issacs (Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series), Emma Wishbone's Emily Watson (of Angela's Ashes), Frank Wishbone's Nick Frost (of The Adventures of Tintin) and witch Baba Yaga played by Catherine Tate (of Doctor Who).

Why your little ones will love it: It contains a kooky cast of characters that are well-known and traditionally 'scary' (The Mummy, The Werewolf) but that actually aren't that scary at all. Monster Family makes them relatable, warm and often, hilariously goofy. It's a funny story (with more than one or two hair-raising moments!) about heroes and good vs evil with a lot of magic thrown in - so perfect for kids young and old. They'll laugh, get a few frights (as will you) and be swept away by the Wishbone family's adventures and above all, it's a film the entire family will adore. It's a film for the family, about family.
