Buying a car for your family can be a daunting task. First you have to look at finances and figure out how much you can afford; next, you have to choose a vehicle that will fit all of the kids (and their friends), and one that is also suited to your lifestyle.

For many of us, the most important things are ease of use, a big area for shopping (and gear bags), flexible seating arrangement, safety, cost of running and, of course, how it looks.

According to mums from our Mums Say Group, the new Peugeot 5008 SUV ticks all these boxes. The seven-seater is adaptable to family life, comes with a number of features that will make life as a mum a lot easier, and looks sleek and stylish.

"The first thing that struck me when I arrived to collect the car was just how good looking the 5008 SUV is. It’s really elegant but also sturdy and it doesn’t have that ‘mommy wagon’ look that so many family cars/ seven-seaters have," Máire from our Mums Say Group, who has three children, said.

"I drive a seven-seater family car and I had resigned myself to the fact that while I’m driving a seven-seater the aesthetics are going to have to take a back seat (pardon the pun). The 5008 has the seven seats and all the space but looks great."

However, it's not just a good looking car.

Safety - a parent's number one concern - is top of the agenda for the new Peugeot 5008.

The car has rear camera view, speed limit recognition, and a warning message if you get too close to the car in front, for instance. It also has park assist for those who have trouble parallel parking or manoeuvring into a parking bay.

However, there is one pretty nifty feature that mums (and dads, of course) will no doubt be incredibly grateful for, especially if their little tot is a wannabe Harry Houdini.

"Another detail I liked was the warning light if anyone (the bold one in the back) takes off their seatbelt," Mandy, who has thee children under the age of ten, explained when sharing her favourite safety feature.

"Some of the other safety features are also very important to me, the speed limit recognition, auto hazard lights and a warning message if you get too close to the car in front."

The car also has driver attention alert - handy for when you get distracted by the sound of squabbling in the back seats, something mum-of-three Máire noticed.

"Another feature that I was really impressed by was the driver attention alert – if you got momentarily distracted by a screaming child this safety feature activates to ensure that you don’t veer out of the lane, so important for mums and dads with a car full of children."

For those who car pool to and from school or matches, there is a handy little feature that allows you to change the seat formations.

For instance, you can have three in the middle and two in the back when you've a full car, two in the back and one in the middle if you need more space for gear bags or two in the middle with the rest of the seats put down if, like Mandy, you find yourself buying high shrubs from the garden centre.

The car was definitely a huge success with our mums; Mandy's three children all gave it a thumbs up and Máire is considering it as her next family car.

After receiving nothing but praise from our Mums Say Group, we're delighted to be able to award the Peugeot 5008 SUV with the 'As loved by MummyPages' badge.
