Imagine a life where parents could organise a babysitter with just one hours notice. A babysitter that has been fully vetted and chosen specifically to suit your child's needs.

Well, that's exactly what this new app aims to do.

"Hello Sitter" was launched this week in New York City and it aims to change the way parents organise care for their children.

The app requires parents to reveal their child's interests, special requirements and five traits they'd like in a babysitter in an effort to match them with the ideal candidate.

Founder and CEO of "Hello Sitter", Lauren Mansell told the Daily News that parents are in good hands.

"It helps that I'm a mom.

"It's not just about running a background check - we meet them and get to know them. There are parents that are apprehensive and I totally get it."

Potential sitters are asked to submit an in-depth application which, if suitable will land them a one-on-one interview with the CEO herself.

After this, the folks at Hello Sitter will run extensive background checks and talk to listed references. Their names will also be cross-referenced with the national criminal database to ensure the candidate is not withholding any relevant information.

This intense application process is all about reassuring the parents.

With over 200 babysitters currently available on the app, the demand for this type of service is clear.

Hello Sitter is currently only available in certain parts of New York City but hopefully with its growing popularity, it will make a leap across the pond to our shores soon.
