A father-of-three and TV personality, Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello was hosting a charity night when he heard a mother talk bravely about her son’s battle with muscle dystrophy.

However, the most upsetting part was this mother’s admission that her son had never been invited to a birthday party.

Listening to this mum’s wish for her son to be invited to one birthday party gave the Australian TV host an idea.

Posting his story on Facebook, Cosi shared his idea with followers saying:

“Six months ago I was hosting a charity night in the city,” Cosi wrote.

“A mother got up and spoke bravely about her son’s battle with MD and the issues it caused him and their family.

“But it's how she finished her selfless talk that haunts me.

“She said: "Do you know the hardest thing about my 12 year old boy having MD?"

“I was thinking she'd say the sleepless nights, the extra workload as a parent, the 24/7 care but no.

“She said "For years I've picked him up from school and I've seen all the other kids tearing around waving birthday party invitations yet never once in his life has my child been invited to anyone's birthday party.”

The dad-of-three decided to do something about what he had heard from that mother and decided to throw the birthday party of all birthday parties.

Sending an open invite to children had never been to a party before, Cosi took to Facebook to explain why he organised the bash.

“I even joked about how it sucks our kids have a better social life than we do and I need to employ a full time UBER driver just to get them to parties,” he said.

“Yet here's me whinging about it and this mum stands before me just wanted one single invite for her son. I felt terrible.”

The party is set for December 17 and says it will be the “biggest birthday party ever” at Adelaide zoo.
