Alma Bilson was able to enjoy her grandson’s wedding while sat 15,000 kilometres away thanks to a video call.

The 89 year old who wasn’t able to attend her grandson’s wedding as she was not well enough, watched the ceremony from her retirement home in Australia.

All the while her grandson, Trent, married his fiancé, Helen in England.

Alma was in total disbelief at the whole thing with her hands remaining firmly on her face for most of the ceremony.

She told The Daily Mail: “They were just right there!”

“It was like we were there, we all felt the same emotions as we would if we were sitting in the hall with them.” She said.

She watched the guests arrive and focussed on Trent as he watched his bride walk down the aisle.

And when the ceremony was over, Alma enjoyed the celebrations too as a couple of friends came to join her.

Raising their own glasses of champagne to the happy couple, the group in Oz then cut into a Tim Tam cake as the folks in England enjoyed the wedding cake.

Alma even got to pose for family pictures as Trent held up the iPad as he posed with some of Alma’s other grandchildren.

The whole thing was possible due to the staff at her Feros Village Retirement Home in New South Wales and of course her family in England.

Alma described her night perfectly: “It was an overwhelming experience. I wasn’t feeling up to making the big trip but I didn’t want to miss out on the wedding. Family is so important to me and all my

grandchildren are so special,”

“I think I might sleep in tomorrow, and I might have a sore head from all this champagne!”
