Tributes have been pouring in for the late and great music legend Prince since his untimely passing yesterday, and one Irish couple have a very romantic link to the star.
Dublin-based teacher Eve rang in to 2FM’s The Ryan Tubridy Show this morning to share the sweet story of how the Purple Rain singer played a part in bringing her and her future husband, Ciarán, together.
Eve recounted how she and Ciarán had met at the fancy dress party of a mutual friend, just nights before Prince was due to play a gig in Croke Park.
As it turned out, Ciarán had tickets to the concert, but it wasn’t a total wash-out when Prince cancelled the gig – Ciarán went on to contact Eve and ask her out on their very first date that night!
Chatting to Ryan today, Eve said: “Today is our second wedding anniversary, and I’m really glad that Prince cancelled that gig.”
The couple are planning to mark their anniversary on a weekend away with their daughter Elspeth.
