It seems like we aren't the only ones who are trying to get back to our pre-baby weight.

The men in our lives are also struggling to reign in their dad bods.

A recent survey conducted by LighterLife Fast found that almost a quarter of first time dads put on more than a stone within those first 12 months.

Furthermore the average weight gain for first time dads is one stone five pounds – this is almost the same as a new mum.

The new dads now have 74 minutes less free time than men without kids, according to the study.

And with a newborn, the gym is firmly the last things on their minds.

However, just like many of us, embracing the dad bod isn't so easy for men.

According to the research, first time dads decide to try and shift the extra baby weight when they're having less sex because of their body change and they have stopped taking as much pride in their appearance.

Additionally, 25 percent of men wanted to lose weight after seeing an unflattering picture of themselves, and another 27 percent when clothes became too snug.

Fifteen percent thought about slimming down after getting out of breath playing with their children, but perhaps most worrying, is that 26 percent realised they had gained weight when other health concerns reared their head.

It's fair to say your entire life changes once your little one arrives on the scene, and these shifts in the household impact men, just as much as it does us.
