As anyone who has experienced it will know, having your home burgled and your possessions stolen is a horrific ordeal – especially when children are involved.

One little boy’s nightmare turned into a dream recently however, when a group of kind-hearted policemen saved the day.

According to the Memphis Police Department’s Facebook page, officers Jerry Graves and Antonio Martin responded to the scene of a burglary at the home of a woman and her 11-year-old son. Among the many items stolen while the pair were attending church was the little boy’s second-hand Xbox and every single one of his games.

When asked if the little boy would be requesting a new Xbox from Santa Claus this Christmas, the officers were saddened by his reply: “My mom works long hours and has several jobs…she uses that money to just pay the bills; I am not gonna even ask.”

So touched were the officers by the little boy’s sad story that they decided to make a grand gesture towards him and his mother. After leaving the house, Graves and Martin headed to a Game Stop store where they purchased a new Xbox gaming system and three games for the little boy, out of their own money. After finding out about the little boy’s story, management at the store also donated an additional controller.

Possibly the most heartwrenching part of this story came when the officers presented the little boy with the new toys – he responded: “No, sir…mine was older.”

When the little boy was told that these new toys were now his, he was completely stunned.

“He was so overwhelmed that it brought tears to not only him, but his mother and the officers as well,” read the department’s post.

We are certain that this little boy and his mother will never forget the generosity of these fantastic officers.
