There are certain stories that, as we sit in our comfy chairs in front of our computer screens, just humble us – and that of Eamonn Keaveney is one such report.

You see, not only is Eamonn walking 2,000km around Ireland to raise money for the Pieta House Suicide and Self-Harm Crisis Centre, but he is doing so BAREFOOT.

As part of the Baring My Soles 2,000km walk, Eamonn left Claremorris, Co. Mayo, on May 1st and hit the 1,000km mark – completely alone, might we add – earlier this week.

Eamonn’s sister Yvonne got in touch with MummyPages.ie to chat about the young man’s very noble feat, admitting that the response so far has been amazing.

The very proud teacher said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support he has received from strangers along the way; people who have heard about him on the radio, from social media sites, and through word of mouth.”

Yvonne added that, as a family, the Keaveneys want to use Eamonn's journey to spread awareness for Pieta House and highlight the serious issue of suicide and self-harm.
