Lacey Dunkin was 25-years-old when she first began looking into adoption.

Early on, Lacey realised marriage was not something she saw in her future and with no sign of a serious relationship in sight she took things into her own hands.

Always certain that she wanted kids, Lacey was intrigued by her mother’s suggestion of fostering.

“I knew that if I wasn’t a mum, I would regret it my whole life,” she told Kidspot.

Just a few short years later, Lacey became a mum through adoption.

However, Lacey didn’t just welcome one new child, she welcomed six.

She adopted all six sisters to make sure the girls would all stay together.

Now 32-years-old, Lacey is loving life with her daughters nine-year-old Sophia, seven-year-old twins Natalie and Melanie, six-year-old Kaylee, four-year-old Lea and two-year-old Cecily.

After fostering the girls for a year, the mum was determined to keep the girls together and later adopted Cecily soon after she was born.

Speaking to People, the mum-of-six said:

“They bring me so much joy, and chaos, but life would be so empty and bland and boring without them.

“It’s an honour to be their mother, they melt my heart.”

“I didn’t even consider not keeping them together. It was all or nothing to me,” she said.

Lacey posted on Facebook about her experience of fostering and adoption.

“I want people to know that both biological parents tried very hard to do everything they could for these girls. I know their selfless love as they made the heart-wrenching decision to choose adoption.”

“I wholeheartedly know that they saved me, and not the other way around.

“Of course, life is crazy, as you can imagine with six beautiful and busy little girls, but I know that we were meant to find each other."
