Every parents' style of raising their children will differ, no matter who you are.

Being a celebrity mum can, at times, invite some unnecessary parenting advice on what is acceptable and what isn’t.

A recent photograph uploaded on Instagram by Jessica Simpson has divided fans.

The picture in question was posted in celebration of Simpson’s daughter's birthday.

SIX #MAXIDREW

Earlier this week, Maxidrew turned six and can be seen in a tracksuit, standing in front of lots of birthday balloons.

Some of her followers were quick to point out that the six-year-old didn't particularly look her age.

While most congratulated Maxwell Drew on her birthday, some turned their attention to Jessica Simpson telling her that her daughter looked "too old" for her age and the star should "stop" making her look a certain way.

"Stop. She's not even a teen yet" one Instagram user said, "She is so cute, don't make her grow up so fast! You're going to miss these times."

"Stop teaching young girls to pose, she is a child," said another.

"Why make ur baby pose like that?? She's not even a teenager yet!!" added a fan.

Other users came to the defence of the singer saying:

"The people complaining about her being "forced to pose" like that are ridiculous. My cousin is 7 and she loves posing all different ways for photos to feel like a model. Get a life people. You judge celebrities for anything they do."

"I posed like that when I was 3 and that was in 1981. It is called having sass. Get over it."

What do you think of the photograph?
