Two years ago a young man, known on Reddit as Beersie McSlurrp but we will refer to him as Michael, lost his dad to cancer.

In the last few months Michael lost all sight of who his father was as the medication took effect.

Michael said of their relationship that it had “changed once he had been diagnosed with cancer.”

“We always had a good relationship and he was a great dad but we never felt comfortable talking about things and being open with each other.”

Well recently, Michael received a letter that his father had written a few months before he passed.

Using the site FutureMe his dad wanted to give Michael some advice and sense of peace.

Michael posted on Reddit about how happy he was to receive the letter.

He sent a snippet of the letter to AOL which read:

The post received a lot of feedback on Reddit with hundreds of people commenting on their similar situation.

Michael did have some advice for fathers and their children from his experience.

“If I could give one bit of advice to any father, it would be to let your children get to know who you are,” he said.

“It won’t be done in a few conversations but over a few years you should be able to feed them bits."

“Also, they need to be ready to listen. I would have been bored when I was younger but appreciated it being older.”
