This story will have you smiling from ear-to-ear.

Nearly 20 years ago, then police officer, Peter Getz was called to the apartment building of Josi Aponte and her uncle after it caught fire.

At just five-years-old, Josi was pulled from the building by firefighters and she was carried to a patrol car by Peter.

Continuing to give the girl CPR all the way to the hospital, Peter saved her life with his determination and persistence.

Since that day, Peter has kept an eye on Josi's progress as she grew up.

And now, nearly 20 years later, Josi graduated with her diploma from Eastern Connecticut State University and there was one person in particular she wanted there.

A picture taken of the pair on Josi's graduation became a heartfelt tribute to the man who saved her life.
