Gardai are investigating the circumstances leading up to an incident in The Strand Hotel in Limerick after a toddler fell from a sixth floor balcony yesterday afternoon.

 

The boy, who is believed to be from Limerick, fell from the balcony shortly before 2pm and was cared for by a doctor who was near the scene.

 

Emergency services was called and the boy was later rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.

 

Gardai have said the boy's condition is critical.

 

A source from The Strand Hotel confirmed that the young boy was with his parents in the hotel at the time of the incident. They also said that the floor which he fell from was not booked for use and were unsure as to why the child was there.
