We have some absolutely tragic news to share with you today, following reports that four small children have been found dead in an apartment complex in Memphis, Tennessee.
According to multiple reports this afternoon, the children – all of whom are said to have been under the age of six – were stabbed. Police discovered their bodies following the tragedy, which occurred yesterday.
The children’s mother has been taken into custody. The father, who is understood not to have been at home at the time of the tragedy, is also being held by police.
Speaking to the media, County Sheriff Bill Oldham said: “This is an egregious act of evil that has shocked us to our core. I will never understand how anyone can do this.”
The District Attorney General’s Special Victims’ Unit has apparently been called in to handle the investigation, and all necessary resources will be available to the team.
Child services have confirmed that they have no history with the as yet unnamed family.
