Our hearts go out to the friends and family of mum Kelly-Marie Earp who tragically passed away days after sustaining a fatal injury after slipping in her shower.

Mum-of-two Kelly-Marie was unaware of the extent of her injury and spent the rest of the day with family in Derbyshire before collapsing and being rushed to Royal Derby Hospital.

Doctors learned that Kelly-Marie had suffered a bleed in the brain as a result of her fall and despite undergoing surgery in the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham Kelly-Marie passed away four days later.

A postmortem report compiled by consultant pathologist and forensic medical examiner, Dr. Andrew Hitchcock, stated that the young mum died of an 'acute subdural haematoma' due to a 'blunt impact injury to the head'.

An inquest into her death revealed that it is not uncommon for an individual to experience a 'lucid period', as Kelly-Marie exhibited, despite undergoing severe head trauma.

Single mum Kelly-Marie was mum to 13-year-old Josh and five-year-old Macy and was not believed to have suffered from an underlying condition which may have contributed to her collapse.
