Our thoughts and prayers are with a family in Scotland today, following police confirmation that two toddlers have died in a lake accident.

According to reports, the children – aged two and three – were travelling in a family car when it plunged into Loch nan Druimnean, near the town of Oban. Their bodies were later recovered from the water by emergency services.

A 36-year-old woman was taken to hospital and released shortly after, while a man was also reportedly seen soaking wet at the edge of the lake, leading to the belief that a family of four was in the car.

The incident is said to have happened just before 4pm on Wednesday, 6th July, with police and emergency services called to the scene shortly after.

A coastguard helicopter and police diving teams were dispatched but, tragically, they were unable to save the children.

Confirming the very sad news, a representative for the Scottish Police said: “Two young children have lost their lives, and our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of those involved in this tragic incident.”

Our hearts go out to the family of these little ones.
