The saying goes that you can’t take your eyes off of your children for a second, and this has proven true in the most tragic way possible this week.

A Kentucky family is mourning the loss of their little girl, who was found dead after attending her brother’s football game with her family.

According to reports, Amy and Brian Doolin were watching their son’s game at the local high school last Saturday when they realised that seven-year-old Gabriella had gone missing.

The family immediately led a search for Gabriella, but tragically, she was found dead in a creek behind the school just 25 minutes later.

Sources today claim that an autopsy has been carried out on the little girl’s body, although the cause of death and details of her case have not yet been released to the public. Authorities have, however, confirmed that they are treating the death as a homicide, and an investigation has been launched.

Devastated dad Brian took to Facebook to pay tribute to his late daughter, writing: “We’ve never been this empty. I’d give anything to hold my baby girl just one more time…I love her with all my heart…please continue to pray for my family.”

Our hearts go out to the Doolin family at this most tragic time.
