There is no cure for glaucoma and if vision is lost to the disease it cannot be restored. However, prescription eye drops can help control the disease. The drops reduce the production of aqueous humor thereby lowering eye pressure. These drops are generally successful in delaying any damage to the optic nerves. Laser surgery may be used also to increase drainage of aqueous fluid from the eye if drops are not successful.
