Losing a child is one of the most heartbreaking things that any family can go through, and our hearts go out to the family of Oliver Croker this week.

Oliver, 12, passed away after being hit by a fence post while watching a football match near Exeter, UK.

The schoolboy was attending a Bradninch Football Club game on Saturday when the ‘freak’ accident occurred. He was airlifted to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, before being transferred to Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Tragically, Oliver died last night from his injuries.

A statement issued by the club read: “As many will have heard, a freak accident took place at Kensham Park at the end of a football match between Bradninch and Bampton on Saturday 12 September...At this time, it is unclear how the accident occurred.”

Oliver’s school paid tribute to him on the sad news of his passing, describing him as ‘the life and soul of the party’.

“[He was] a larger than life character, brimming with confidence, with eagerness and enthusiasm for taking part in all aspects of school life. His youthful vibrancy and curiosity about life shaped his whole character,” a statement read.

Such a devastating story. Our thoughts and prayers are with Oliver’s family at this tragic time.
