Tried and tested money saving tips from MummyPages Mums

Cutting back and saving money is definitely top of the agenda for most mums. And while an important part of the family budget, it can be difficult knowing where to cut back and where the saving opportunities are.

Whether you want to go on a holiday, buy a new car, put something aside for a rainy day or you simply want to get your finances in order, there are plenty of ways to save a penny or two.

If you are struggling, the following tips from MummyPages Mums will help you get started:

1. Go bargain hunting
Sharon: “You are guaranteed to get a bargain in a charity shop or boot sale be it clothes or household items. I have bought furniture pieces and up-styled [sic] them myself - like new”

2. Shopping in budget-friendly stores
Laura: “I second Dealz for all”

Rayleen: “Shopping in Lidl is my favourite x”

Emma: “Lidl and Aldi [and] batch cooking”

3. Batch cooking and using leftovers
Vicki: “Cooking in bulk and freezing meals! Saves money and time! ”

Janie: “Being organised with meals and savvy with leftovers. A large chicken does three meals for us: a roast, chicken sandwiches for work and packed lunches and a chicken pasta dish”

Marie: “Doing shopping online rather than in store - you are more likely to buy things you don't need if you go into the shop! Also have a good sort out of out grown clothes, shoes and toys etc - sell them on Facebook pages or at car boot sales x”

4. Putting a little aside regularly
Aislinn: “Buy a ‘pot of dreams’! You only fill it with €2 coins but by the time it's full it holds nearly €2000. Any time I have a €2 coin I put it in my pot - doesn't take long to add up!”
