While may have to wait until 2019 for the return of Stranger Things, at least we can survive on the little bits of news we're receiving in the lead-up to the third season.

Now we have two actors joining the residents of Hawkins, and they'll be familiar to people who are fans of certain cult 80s and 90s films.

Cary Elwes, beloved as Wesley in The Princess Bride, is joining the cast, but not as a dashing hero this time.

Instead, he'll portray a different 80s archetype: the handsome, slick, and sleazy politician, Mayor Kline.

The mayor's priorities aren't necessarily the best - he cares more about his own image than the actual wellbeing of citizens.

We can't wait to see him in this role, even if it is a far cry from the dreamy Wesley!

"There’s a new mayor in town," the Robin Hood: Men in Rights star joked on Instagram, along with a picture confirming the announcement.

The other cult actor guest starring is Jake Busey, best known for his role as Private Ace Levy in the 1997 film Starship Troopers

Jake will be playing Bruce, a journalist for The Hawkins Post with questionable morals and a disturbing sense of humour.

"Well, saying I’m 'excited' is an understatement," Jake shared on Instagram, "This is insanely cool! And my phone has NEVER blown up like this EVER!!! Stepping on the plane to go meet everyone now!!!"

We are thrilled to see Jake and Cary joining the cast and, needless to say, we can't wait for the sci-fi series to return.

Production for the third season reportedly began this month, according to TV Line, so hopefully, we'll be seeing some teaser pics from set soon!
