News outlets have been reporting on incidents of parents leaving their children alone in hot cars, in the hope that it will raise awareness and prevent needless injury and even death – but it seems that they are fighting an uphill battle.

This is painfully clear from the footage posted by Carl Paz this week, a man who came across a crying baby who had been left inside a hot car outside of a store by his mother.

When Carl goes inside the store and asks who the child’s parent is, the woman is not only nonchalant but also quite annoyed that anyone would question her parenting methods.

Throughout the course of the video, the mother is seen denying that she has done anything wrong, insisting that her child isn’t crying – even though she can only see him through the window.

Carl was so distressed by what he saw that he decided to upload the footage to Facebook, and it has since gone viral, attracting over 300,000 views. It is also reported that local police stepped in after the footage was brought to their attention.

Check out the footage below. This is just shocking.

Walk by a Sprint Retail store and spot a baby, alone in a car, while its 82 degrees outside. No shade, no A/C...nothing....
