If you plan to insulate your home over the coming weeks, you have been advised by the National Standards Authority of Ireland to avail only of registered installers.

In an effort to highlight the far-reaching implications of sub-standard workmanship, the NSAI has issued a warning to consumers to avoid using unregistered installers.

While there exists no legal requirement to carry a license as an insulation installer in Ireland, those registered with the NSAI are regularly audited ensuring consumers do not fall victim to shoddy workmanship which can have a detrimental effect on both the individual’s health and finances.

By using a registered NSAI installer, the consumer gets a two-year parts labour guarantee from the installer in addition to a five to ten-year warranty from the material supplier.

If, however, a consumer does experience problems upon using a registered installer, Certification and Inspection Officer Robin Byrne insists all effort will be made to rectify the issue.

“If there’s a complaint with a registered installer we engage with the installer, the material supplier and the homeowner and try to get them to achieve a reasonable solution,” he explained.
