It’s one of those topics that leaves many people scratching their heads, but accidents can happen so easily – which is why authorities around the world are issuing warnings to parents about the dangers of leaving children in hot cars for long periods of time.

The latest warning comes after an 11-month-old child was left in his father’s car for almost four hours, in Wisconsin, US.

According to reports, the father forgot to drop the child off at day-care and instead drove straight to work, leaving the tot alone in the hot car for almost four hours.

Thankfully, a passer-by stumbled across the scene in the car park and contacted local police and the fire service. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after and were able to break into the vehicle to get the baby out.

Thankfully, the child was fully conscious and uninjured and, incredibly, he even appeared to be ‘smiling and giggling’ before being rushed to hospital.

When the father was informed of the situation, he was reportedly ‘distraught’. No charges are set to filed against him.

Given the recent spate of similar incidents at this side of the world, where security and not just heat effects have been raised as concerns, it’s well worth spreading this story around.
