Commuting isn't always the easiest thing. The majority of us do it on a daily basis to get to and from work and it can be a source of stress; you're tired, you likely have the Monday Blues and everyone is feeling the same way - anxious to get to the office.

It can be the same even if you're just using public transport to attend a doctor's appointment with the kids, meet a friend and their brood for a play date or just use it to get out and about - we can all go into our own world, not paying attention what's around us

Dublin Bus are aware that it's easy to get distracted on the journey, but they want to let all commuters know that, for them, the health and safety of everyone using their bus services is a top priority.

To that end, they've launched new customer awareness video to act as a support for all bus users to ensure they are travelling safely and smartly and aware of the needs of fellow customers.

In short, they want to make everyone's journeys as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Because plenty of us use Dublin Bus every day: 72 per cent of commuters use it during peak hours (that's over 1,020 buses across the city and Greater Dublin Area at those times alone) and 61 per cent of all public transport trips into Dublin City Centre are on the bus.  Not forgetting that travellers will have varied needs and requirements, from older people to students, busy mums with young children and people with disabilities.

"The new Safety Awareness Video highlights the key areas to be mindful of when travelling by bus, simple things we do every day such as safe queueing at bus stops, moving up and down the stairs and using the handrails at all times, being more aware of the surroundings especially when standing and moving around the lower saloon; before settling in to catch up on the latest happenings on social media," explained  James McHugh, Dublin Bus Environmental, Health & Safety Manager.

"The safety of our customers has always been and will remain a priority for Dublin Bus. We’ve created this video as a guide for our customers to know the key areas which will ensure their safe and comfortable journeys.”

It also highlights and includes important messages for older people and customers with mobility needs or those that are trying to get a buggy on board; highlighting the features available on each Dublin Bus - including accessibility ramps and the ability to lower the bus to make it easier to for them to board - all which should help make their journeys more comfortable.
