In a world of little-to-no privacy online, cyber safety has become a big worry among parents.

 

Wayne Rooney has been speaking about controlling internet use to keep his boys safe online.

“We’ve never had any problems with online issues, but they are there,” Wayne said at the launch of NSPCC’s Little Stars campaign.

 

“It’s important as a parent to monitor it even if you’ve put controls in place.”

 

The 30-year-old is proud dad to six-year-old Kai, three-year-old Klay, and eight-month-old Kit and says while he allows the boys online, he does keep an eye on what they’re getting up to with the heightened risk of online predators.

NSPCC have said they’ve seen a 40pc rise in child abuse calls that they would deem “serious” with the numbers being reported to police have increased by 50pc in the last year.

 

"These figures reveal a nation that is more alive to the issues of child abuse following recent high-profile scandals," said NSPCC chief Peter Wanless.

“They have become concerned and aware of the signs of abuse and neglect in children and our helpline is an invaluable service.

 

“When people are worried, and feel they need to speak to someone, they can and will be listened to.”
