One young couple are celebrating their new fortune tonight after they took home €500,000 from the National Lottery HQ today.
The pair, who want to remain anonymous, bought the winning Quick Pick ticket in Dunnes Stores in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on the day of the draw and today collected their prize.
“I was at home on the Saturday evening and I was looking at a massive heap of ironing which needed to be done,” said the lucky woman of how she came across the ticket.
“Before I started, I picked up my ticket and checked my numbers on the phone.
“I joked that if I won I would just buy new clothes for everyone instead of doing the ironing. Sure enough, there were my numbers all in a row. I was absolutely speechless.”
The married pair already have an idea about how they’ll spend their winnings, telling Dublin Live:
“The only thing we need is a proper family home. My husband and I got married and had a family when we were quite young so we were never really in a position to save for a mortgage.
“We’re really looking forward to going shopping for a family home.”
