Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the most memorable of your life, but this couple are likely never to forget theirs after their photographer saved the life of a little boy during their ceremony.

Chantell Botha was busy snapping photos of a beach wedding in South Africa when she noticed a little boy struggling after being pulled from the ocean by two teenagers.

The photographer sprang into action when the boy reached the sand, and began to perform CPR on the five-year-old.

Speaking to Kidspot, Chantell admitted that thoughts of her own son motivated her to keep going until she had saved this little boy.

“I was very calm and all that went through my head was ‘I have to get a pulse back’…Giving up was not an option until the ambulance arrived. Eventually after 15 minutes I felt a pulse – it was faint – but it was there,” she said.

Once Sea Rescue arrived and took over, Chantell slipped quietly back into her role (her assistant had continued on with the photos in her absence), and she later learned that the little boy was recovering well.

While Chantell has not been in touch with the little boy’s family, paramedics have reassured her that he is doing very well thanks to her courageous actions.

What an incredible woman. Well done to her, for her quick-thinking.
