When should I seek medical advice for colic?

You should seek medical advice for colic for any of the following reasons:

·         Your baby has not had colic before and you suspect that he is colicky; your GP may want to rule out any other factors or causes
·         The bouts of colic are accompanied by fever, diarrhoea, vomiting or constipation. These are all signs of illness which aren’t associated with simple colic.
·         Your baby is older than four months and is still experiencing colic
·         Your colicky child fails to gain weight and isn’t hungry, which suggests an illness
·         You are exhausted or angry and fear that stress may lead you to hurt your baby
