Storm Aileen is set to travel across Ireland today, bringing gusts of 100km/h with it.

 

Met Éireann has issued a yellow wind warning from this afternoon until midnight tonight.

 

They have warned people to be aware of the wild conditions that are set to hit Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Galway and all of Munster.

 

Heavy rain is set to fall over central and Northern Ireland this evening.

 

Winds of 65hm/h are set to hit Dublin by the early evening.  It is believed that they will be strongest in exposed coastal areas.

 

The Road Safety Authority has asked motorists to be extra cautious during the storm. They have advised people to drive slowly and to keep their distance between other vehicles on the roads.

 

Temperatures are set to drop to eight degrees during the night.

 

The weather is set to improve by Wednesday with forecasters predicting cool temperatures with moderate winds and sunny spells.
