Winter is coming: five stages of winter panic you experience as a parent

Now that Halloween is behind us, we can safely say that winter has arrived! There are many different types of winter parents... Me? I happen to be the kind that wishes she was a momma-bear and could hibernate the season through in one big snuggle!

Keeping your little ones safe and healthy in during the chilly months is tough and we've come up with 5 winter worries that all parents can relate to- just so you know you're not alone!

Icy Mornings

Unfortunately, my little one has inherited my clumsiness. Add this to icy winter mornings and it is a recipe for a frozen fiasco. Jack frost kisses the grass each morning and Elsa seems to have had a party on the pavement, just before the school run!

We are all concerned when it comes to black ice on the roads and slippery sidewalks- and it feels like no amount of warning can up the caution-dial on our kids! Bless your nerves this winter, mamas!

Colds and flus

Sniffles and colds are inevitable in the winter months. If you are lucky, your little ones won’t develop much more than a runny nose or a scratchy cough for a week or two. Moving from the icy outdoors to the cosiness of home or the clamminess of the crèche can be a breeding ground for bugs this time of year- not to mention your loving kids are cuddling their little friends all day long!

What can we do, only tell them to high-five instead of hug? Thank goodness for Haliborange chewy multivitamins and supplements, boosting little immune systems and giving us some piece of mind!

Visitors?

No I don’t mean surprise drop-ins from in-laws- though, there’s another seasonal panic- I mean the friends you dread, hopping from head to head! Though these are a threat throughout the year, the added necessity of winter hats can make these months even more appealing for unwanted guests! Lice are a pain for all so feel free to vent to mummy-friends- and yes, they can still get them over the holidays!

Layers

This is the first year my daughter hasn't donned tights under her leggings everyday! Layers are a pain because of the extreme temperatures moving from outdoors to in. You hate to think of your darlings being too hot at school, after you muffled them with a thermal vest that morning. We can only do our best and layers seem to be a solution, so they can shed anything uncomfortable when they get too warm!

Sunlight

The stretch in the evening is gone my friends, and it won’t be back for a while! Couple that with wet and blustery days and you’ll find your little ones might need a vitamin D top up! Vitamin D is essential to the growth and development of bones and as mums, we know our babas’ health is best when the sun is brightest- so we are lucky that supplementing the sunshine is so easy with Haliborange!

Stay sane this winter, mums, you’re doing great!
