Every parent will know how much money is spent at this time of the year, so to hear of someone stealing from their next-door neighbour is truly shocking.
A police officer’s wife is facing charges after being caught stealing children’s toys from her neighbour’s doorstep.
Megan Zawacki, from Florida in the US, was at home with her two-year-old daughter when she noticed a shadow passing her window. Nervous, she ran upstairs with her little one and checked the security camera footage.
The recorded footage showed a thief stealing UPS packages containing toys for Megan’s daughter from her very doorstep. The thief then got into their car and drove off.
Desperate to get to the bottom of the shocking incident, Megan uploaded the footage to Facebook and appealed for information to help identify the thief. Amazingly, some eagle-eyed viewers managed to figure out who the thief was by her tattoos – it was none other than neighbour Dana Hager.
Hager, who is married to a police officer, was arrested earlier this week and charged with unarmed burglary and petty theft. She went on to admit to stealing the gifts.
A spokesman from the local police said: “The fact that Hager took the packages off of a neighbour’s front porch is shocking. The fact that she is the wife of a law enforcement officer is even more shocking.”
