Christmas is known as a time of good will and generosity, and this story just goes to show that the spirit of the season is well and truly alive.

It has been reported that an anonymous woman walked into a Toy ‘R’ Us store in Massachusetts this week and proceeded to pay off the layaway balances of 154 customers.

The sum of the merchandise totalled a whopping $20,000.

A source revealed that the woman, whose identity has not yet been revealed, walked in to the store asking to pay off a layaway. When asked to which account she was referring, she is said to have answered: “All of them.”

One customer who has benefited from this kind stranger’s generosity shared her shock and delight with Fox News.

“I have no words. I can’t believe someone would do that, it’s so nice,” said Diana Brewer, adding, “I have been running around all week picking up layaways everywhere, so this is really awesome.”

Another customer, Linda, said that the act of kindness would make a big difference to her Christmas.

“I thought, ‘You have to be kidding me.’ I almost wanted to cry. It was only $50, but to me that’s a lot of money, and that someone would go and do that gave me chills,” she said.

What an amazing thing to do, especially at this time of year when so many parents are feeling the financial strain.
