Police in Northern Ireland are this week investigating the alleged ‘serious sexual assault’ of a woman in a popular walking spot in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.

According to reports, the woman was out walking her dog in Peatlands Park – often frequented by mothers and children – when she was attacked by an unknown male.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 2:45pm yesterday, Wednesday, and the man is reported to have left the scene on a black mountain bike.

Local police have appealed for information relating to the incident, with Detective Inspector Lynne Knox pleading for anyone who may be able to help the investigation to get in contact.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or observed anything suspicious to contact detectives at the Rape Crime Unit on the non-emergency number +4428 9065 0222,” she said.

For anyone living in the area, stay safe and contact the authorities if you are concerned.

Let’s hope that the police will be able trace the suspect.
