A woman in Albuquerque, New Mexico has spoken of how she had to ‘wrestle’ her own daughter free from the clutches of a man who abducted the child while her back was turned.

The woman, who has chosen not to reveal her identity, told a court that she was on her way into her apartment when the abductor struck.

After looking away for a matter of ‘seconds’, the mother turned around to see the man running down the street with her daughter in his arms.

Local media quotes the mother’s court statement, which read: “He was carrying her like he was carrying his own child. He was holding her close, trying to hold her really close to him…and that bothered me really bad.”

She ran after the man, later named as 29-year-old Dustin Sherman, and had to physically prise her daughter from his clutches.

To her surprise, Sherman did not run away when challenged, but patted her other child on the head and said, “I love you girls and I’ll see you later.”

Thankfully, police were able to identify and track Sherman down, and he was later arrested and charged with kidnapping. The court is yet to pass its verdict.
