The world’s tallest waterslide is to be demolished following the tragic death of a 10-year-old, three months ago.

Caleb Thomas Schwab died in a freak accident on the Verruckt slide, at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas.

Caleb was enjoying a day out with his family – including his lawmaker father Scott – when the incident occurred, on 7th August.

An investigation followed, and while no charges have been brought against Schlitterbahn Parks, management is reportedly cooperating with the inspection.

In response to Caleb’s tragic death, the park’s top managers have this week decided to tear down the 168-foot-high attraction.

“In our opinion, it is the only proper course of action following this tragedy. All of us at Schlitterbahn have been heartbroken over the tragedy that occurred on Verruckt,” an official statement read.

There was an outpouring of shock and love for the Schwab family following Caleb’s death, during the summer.

Speaking after Caleb was laid to rest, his heartbroken father acknowledged the public’s heartwarming response.

“’Thank you’ seems so inadequate to express our appreciation, but it is the only phrase we have. So, from the depths of our hearts, we thank you,” Mr Schwab said at the time.
