Just when we prayed the snow was well and truly finished, it turns out, this weekend, we're in for a forecast of "wintery showers," according to Met Eireann.

They have issued a status yellow warning for Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan, with wintry showers promised throughout Saturday and Sunday.

So, if you and the little ones are heading to the St Patrick's Day parade (or Plan B), wear something green for the time that's in it, but do make sure at least three of those items are a warm, coat, scarf and gloves because you will need them.

An orange weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann for the following counties - Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford due to take effect from  3 am on Sunday morning, lasting until 12 pm on Sunday afternoon.

While there will be no blizzard this time (thank goodness), there are expected to be flurries of snow on what is traditionally the first bank holiday of spring - snow showers are expected to fall throughout the weekend (and possibly into Monday).

Temperatures will range from 1 to 3 degrees in the eastern half of the country, while they’ll reach 4 to 6 degrees in the west with a prediction of blustery, easterly winds that will make it feel significantly colder than that.

And it will hit turn freezing as St Patrick’s Day turns to night, with nighttime temperatures falling below zero – as far as -4  or -5 degrees in some areas. Combined with widespread frost throughout the night and gusty winds, it's a reminder to take extra care if you plan to party until the early hours.

Have a wonderful St Patrick's Day weekend, but remember to take extra care too.
