When 4-year-old Róisín Smith came across a photo of a little girl on a laptop it signalled the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Róisín's met the little girl's parents when her own mum and dad were working alongside them on a business project.

Noticing that their daughter didn't sport the same long hair she did, little Róisín felt compelled to ask about Lucy's hair loss.

Upon discovering that Lucy had lost her hair as a result of chemotherapy, Róisín from Co. Galway was determined to help other little girls in her new friend's position.

Deciding to cut off her long locks and donate it to a wig-making charity called Little Princess Trust, Róisín made the ultimate sacrifice in honour of her pal Lucy.

Róisín and Lucy maintain their friendship via video-messaging and something tells us that those two little girls will share a life-long bond.

Check out Róisin's transformation in the very moving video below.
