Leaving your children in someone else’s care is always a serious decision for any parent to make, and so we can understand why mums and dads would be having second-thoughts about this day care facility after last week’s horrific incident.

Days after two young brothers were rushed to hospital with serious sunburn, the day care centre that was minding them at the time they sustained their injuries has been closed down.

Mum Shauna Broadway contacted police and shared her story with the public, after finding out that staff at the Happiness Is A Learning Centre day care centre ran out of sun cream for the boys during a trip to a water park.

With an investigation now underway, and with the revelation that centre in question has been cited to child care services a staggering 19 times since last September, authorities took steps to close doors.

“They’re trying to determine exactly what happened, who was involved and whether or not compliance issues were broken,” a Department of Human Services said this week.

Meanwhile, doctors treating the two boys have confirmed that they should recover completely, although they do now stand an increased risk of developing skin cancer later in life.
