Following the terrifying incidents at theme parks in Europe over the past year, parents have had to be extra cautious before allowing their kids onto certain rides.

All we can say is thank heavens for US dad Delbert Latham’s quick-thinking and speedy reactions, after he managed to rescue his young son when his seatbelt came undone on a rollercoaster.

The family were enjoying an evening at the theme park Wonderland, in Texas, when the shocking incident occurred. Delbert, who was seated in the same carriage as his son, just so happened to be filming the rollercoaster ride on his phone when the drama unfolded.

In the video, you can actually watch the heart-stopping moment when little Kaysen slips out of his seat and goes out of sight, with dad Delbert lifting the terrified child back up into his seat and holding onto him for the rest of the ride.

Delbert took to Facebook to share the video, in a bid to alert other families to what can go wrong on a theme park ride.

“Our seatbelt came apart on the Mousetrap, and Kaysen slid to the bottom of the floorboard, and I had to grab him and pull him back up, and hold him for the rest of the ride,” he explained.

Astonishingly, the family received little satisfaction when they voiced their concern and shock to the gentleman managing the ride.

“What makes it worse is, when I told the guy at the end of the ride, he stated that he knew that had happened sometimes!! Really, it’s already happened and you continue to let people ride? And after this, they continued to let people ride. They just didn’t let anyone in the back seat,” he added.

Delbert’s post has received thousands of likes and shares, with many worried parents expressing their shock over the incident.

It just goes to prove, you need to double- and triple-check every single safety aspect before going on one of these rides.
