Play dough - no cook
This recipe makes a lovely play dough and has the added benefit of being a "no cook" recipe.  It lasts for ages when stored in either plastic bag or air tight tin.

450g flour
225g salt
2 tablespoon of cream of tartar
2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
460ml of boiling water (from the kettle) mixed with some food colouring if desired
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence (or extract) - optional but smells lovely.

Put all of the dry ingredients into a large bowl.

Add the hot water and vanilla essence (if using) and mix well.

If you want to create different colours, mix all dry ingredients, divide into 2 bowls. Divide the water and oil into 2 equal parts also, add food colouring and mix your different colours.

This makes a very big batch of playdough. If you would prefer a smaller amount, just divide quantities in two.  It works well in smaller quantities also.
