The third Samhain Abhainn festival will take place at Ballina from 28th October to 31st October. The festival is jam-packed with events perfect for families. There will be something for everyone from the very young, to mums and dads.

Events planned include art workshops, traditional activities, treasure hunts, murder mystery, and spooky strolls through Belleek Woods.

Last year, the very first ‘Interactive Scary Woods Walk’ took place and it was a huge success. As well as this scary event, there will be horrible history walking tours, a historical journey with the Jackie Clarke Museum, adventure activities for agile youngsters, children’s art workshop’s and a showcase of Halloween traditions for all the family.

The festival aims to celebrate the unique history of Halloween in Ireland, as it was first celebrated as a pagan festival back in 100AD to mark the end of summer.

So why not come to Ballina this Halloween and take part in the celebrations along the banks of the river Moy.
