As parents, we often rely on the help of others to keep the show going and keep us sane. However, there are times – especially for parents raising a child on their own – where a little extra care goes a long way. This is something that lone parent Amanda Osbon knows only too well.

The mum-of-one has made headlines this week after sharing a very moving photo that has touched hearts all around the world.

Nashville woman Amanda has been attending classes at the DeVry University, but recently found herself stuck when she had no one to look after her two-year-old son, Xavier, while she went to class.

Feeling embarrassed, Amanda called up her professor, Joel Bunkowske, and asked if she could bring little Xavier to class – of course, he said yes.

At two years old, it was highly unlikely that Xavier was going to stay sitting to attention, and sure enough, he got up and approached Professor Bunkowske during the class. Amanda admits she was mortified as Xavier stopped in front of Bunkowske and put his hands up in a motion for him to pick him up.

What happened next, however, left Amanda in tears, as Professor Bunkowske picked little Xavier up and continued to teach the class.

“That made me literally start crying. I broke down. My classmates started hugging me…It was amazing to see that,” Amanda told a local news channel.

Speaking after his amazing gesture went viral, Professor Bunkowske said: “If you’re going to miss class because you don’t have a babysitter, I’d much rather let’s find a way to accommodate that for adult working people.”

Well done, sir!
