Following an incident in which two teenage girls were approached by men in suspicious circumstances,Hartstown Community College has issued a warning to parents regarding their child's safety and welfare.

The school has sent a group message to parents encouraging them to speak to their children about staying safe and remaining vigilant while out and about in public.

The recent event on Hartstown Road follows another worrying incident in which a pupil of Scoil Mhuire Senior School was approached by a man in an exchange which led authorities to contact and caution parents in the area.

Commenting on the worrying incidents, Dublin West Cllr. David McGuinness said: "This is the second time in Dublin 15 in one week that this type of messaging system has been used to warn parents about safety."

Going on to comment on the intent of the individuals in question, Mr. McGuinness continues: "It highlights the fact that there are some people in our community who have no intention of contributing positively to it."

Authorities maintain that encouraging children to remain in groups and raise the alarm when necessary is vital when teaching your child how to stay safe in public.
